Weird Rant Time

So, I watched American Idol last night. Yes, I watch American Idol, it has great snark value. Last night I paid a little more attention than usual because it was Andrew Lloyd Webber night and I am unabashedly a musical theater freak. Right off the bat I had my hopes dashed as I had really been wishing that just because Andrew Lloyd Webber was the mentor didn't mean it was going to be all ALW songs. I was hoping for the broader theme of Broadway. Instead, not only was it ALW, but the pothead dreadlock kid had to go and sing "Memory" and I cannot stand Cats. It is one of the most horribly over-hyped musicals ever.

Another thing, if you're going to do ALW, can't you just have someone that's been in a lot of ALW shows be the mentor? You know who has done a lot of ALW stuff? John Barrowman.

I think we can all agree that that would have been much prettier to look at than ALW. Get on it, Fox. I realize that he's on like every second of British television that he can possibly be on right now but I have faith. You bring him in next season and I'll watch. It wouldn't even be for the snark value, my mouth would be too busy drooling over the pretty.

In conclusion: Next season do Broadway and bring in John Barrowman. He won't be all awesome in the vintage RAF gear but it will still be gorgeous.

Just wanted to say, HEAR! HEAR! Well said. I've never watched Idol, but if the luscious Mr. Barrowman was on, I'd definitely tune in.

If you get the CBC (Canadian television) then stay tuned as Mr. Barrowman will be guest judging the Canadian version of 'How do you solve a problem like Maria'? Yay...

Don't get the CBC (I'm far north but not quite far north enough) but I knew he did stuff like that so I knew it wouldn't be a stretch for him to be on something like AI.
